Description:

We are recruiting a Grade 6 Senior Technician who will support the core laboratory functions within the Institute.
Your primary role function will be core laboratory support including housekeeping, safety inspections, local inductions, health and safety, maintenance of equipment, and training of researchers and students on equipment. Working alongside the Institute Technical Manager and Departmental Technical Supervisor, you will help manage a large area of laboratories including supervising technicians (minimal supervision).
Occasionally, you may be required to support other departments within the institute, so a flexible approach to work is essential. You will be also expected to help out after hours when there is an emergency eg. freezer failure. A large proportion of the job is core laboratory support, but occasionally, there will be opportunities to provide technical and experimental research support for members of academic staff, as well as high-quality experimental support on a cost-recovery model, but this will be limited. It is important to understand that this role is not a dedicated research technician on a specific research project.
A flexible approach to working is essential.
You must have the knowledge and practical experience in one or more of the biological subject areas (eg. Biological Sciences, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology).
We offer a generous annual leave package plus discretionary University closure days, excellent training, and development opportunities, as well as a great occupational pension scheme.
The post is permanent.
A BTEC Higher (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience) is required for this role.
Location: University of Liverpool, City Centre.
Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week
