WHAT’S COOL ABOUT THIS JOB

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager in our Enterprise Systems area to lead a team of engineers in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions for REI’s Retail Stores and Contact Center. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, experience in leading and managing teams, and a passion for delivering innovative solutions.

  • Lead a team of software engineers in the design, development, and delivery of high-quality software solutions
  • Set technical direction and goals for the team
  • Collaborate with architecture, business, infrastructure & operations teams to contribute the POS, Contact Center & other Retail Tool’s eco-system roadmap
  • Work with business stakeholders and translate them into technical specifications
  • Ensure that software meets quality standards and deadlines
  • Coach and mentor engineers to help them develop their skills
  • Manage the team’s budget and resources
  • Work with other departments to ensure that software is integrated with other systems
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies and trends

Responsibilities:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience in a technology related discipline.
  • 8+ years’ experience in software development.
  • Demonstrate experience in challenging and inspiring others to provide customer centric solutions.
  • Demonstrate ability in translating technical discussions for non-technical partners.
  • Demonstrate ability in translating non-technical requirements in to technical speak for engineers.
  • Experience in managing to a budget.
  • Demonstrate ability to collaborate with business partners.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, set priorities and manage to critical deadlines.
  • Ability to present information effectively to all levels of staff and leadership.
  • Builds strong vendor relationships to influence product roadmaps while managing contractual arrangements and service-level agreement compliance.
  • Demonstrate curiosity in the latest innovations in retailers and their omni-channel capabilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in managing of Point of Sales (POS) solutions and other Retail Technologies including integrations with other enterprise systems.
  • Experience in managing or understanding Contact Center platforms and technologies.
  • Experience leading software development teams in web technologies.
  • Cloud Experience (AWS).
