JOB DESCRIPTION

This position is for a Tool & Die Maker Lead. Salary depends on experience, with a cap at $35.00. We are not able to sponsor any candidates. Must be authorized to work in US.

SUMMARY:

Toolmaker lead is responsible for all duties assigned by the Tool room Supervisor including but not limited to: scheduling work assignments to other dept members, creating work orders, maintaining inventory cabinets, troubleshooting tooling, die maintenance, safety and housekeeping.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Associates Degree (A.A.) or certificate in tool & die and minimum of 3 years JST experience or 5 years tool & die experience.
  3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  4. Ability to communicate effectively.
  5. Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  6. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
    Strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, predictive maintenance, 5S and related manufacturing best practices is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Interprets prints for tooling modifications, accuracy and improvements.
  2. Capable of assigning work and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to the work assignments.
  3. Performs preventive maintenance
  4. Recommends design changes to new and existing tools.
  5. Works with all employees to continuously improve quality and production.
  6. Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  7. Works to tolerances as close as zero.
  8. Connects all die safety components if applicable.
  9. Troubleshoot tooling problems at the presses.
  10. Keep accurate records on all applicable documentation.
  11. Maintains tooling inventory by notifying supervisor in writing of parts needed.
  12. Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase shop efficiencies.
  13. Assist other die makers with troubleshooting.
  14. Responsible for the safe and effective operation of equipment to produce product in specifications in a timely and cost-efficient manner.
  15. Understand, follow and maintain 5s procedures within all departments
  16. Enforces workers to ensure compliance with procedures and policies.
  17. To perform other job related duties as determined and assigned by the supervisor.
