Description:

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:
- Degree in Training Design or equivalent; or currently undertaking an equivalent course; or having appropriate experience
- Diploma of Project Management, or equivalent experience
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110);
- In-depth knowledge of Adult Learning Theories;
- Specialist level working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL);
- Work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures;
- Demonstrated strong communication skills with a focus on stakeholder engagement and management;
- Technical Management experience, preferably in defence projects;
- Relevant product knowledge or the ability to gain such knowledge;
- Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required;
- Able to work in alternate locations, in Australia or overseas, for up to 4 weeks at a time.
- Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship).
Responsibilities:
The Senior Training Manager responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and improving the RDA Training Function organisation and related resources;
- Leading the development, implementation and continuous improvement of process and procedures for the efficient delivery of Training outcomes;
- Leading the Functional Team, ensuring the team are trained, competent and have the requisite tools for delivering the SOW for all RDA programmes;
- Provide SME input and Estimation in support of Bids for new work. Directly liaise with the Programme and Customer in all stages of Bid and Tendering Process;
- Develop and Implement Quality Assurance process to ensure that deliverables are delivered “ Right First Time” for the customer;
- Oversee and support the identification and management of Risks related to deliverables. Manage and support Issues escalated from the Training Managers;
- Oversee and support the definition of the actions and support necessary to ensure that the system attains the specified system readiness objectives with minimum Life Cycle Cost (LCC);
- Work closely with, and provide guidance and subject matter expertise to RDA project teams and sub-contractors as appropriate;
- Oversee and support the preparation and management of the Training requirements for ILS contracts and subcontractors, including acceptance of sub-contractor deliverables and performance;
- Maintain a collaborative and solutions focused approach with all internal and external customer interactions;
- Contribute to the development and management of the budgets;
- Regularly report on Training team business activities;
- Provide Leadership of the Training functional team including, coaching and mentoring, Succession Planning and Career path management;
- Support project review meetings in Australia and, where appropriate, overseas. Manage the contact specific requirements of the establishment of training systems
- Prepare contact status reports, including reporting progress against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Operational Performance Measures (OPMs);
- Provide guidance and assistance to the Project Manager (Training) as required;
- Developing functional relationships and maintaining close liaison with the Commonwealth and support contract training teams;
- Provide input into the Training System program body of work, including review of training documentation, contribution to planning, attendance at project related activities as part of the ILS team
