Overview:
Our Motor Trade Underwriting team here at Gallagher are looking for an experienced underwriter to join our team as a Senior Underwriter on a hybrid basis out of our Stretford office.
The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying and responding to opportunities to increase the company’s insurance income. Additionally, they will require strong technical underwriting knowledge in order to provide technical advice and support to the team.
Responsibilities:
- Underwrite individual insurance applications for a wide variety of Motor Trade and Recovery risks covering property and casualty lines within guidelines set for the issuance of policies on a standard or substandard basis.
- Determine whether to accept, modify or decline a risk through evaluation of the property’s value, location, usage, and safety features, and other information pertinent to the decision.
- Frequent contact with brokers to gather information on which to base and defend underwriting decisions.
- Provide support to the Technical Underwriting Manager in the oversight of the scheme facilities and also mentors less experienced Underwriters.
Qualifications:
- ACII qualified or working towards this qualification.
- Strong and demonstrable experience in underwriting and assessing Motor Trade risks.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Detail oriented.
- Strong analytical skills
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
