Description:

KEY EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS:

Required Experience

  • Experience in underwriting profitable business and knowledge of policy wordings and portfolio management techniques would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable, established relationships with brokers at peer group level and established networks within the insurance market.
  • Broad knowledge of regional / local insurance markets and competitor landscape.
  • General understanding of legal and regulatory framework.
  • Experience working in complex, global matrix organization.
  • Early career professionals with some prior knowledge and experience working in the insurance sector are welcome to apply.

Technical Skills

  • Risk Assessment and Management: Ability to assess risk inherent exposures and natural hazards and knowledge of climate change trends particularly in Asia.
  • Pricing and Market management: Analyze current performance against benchmarks applying how the market operates and functions, the business needs and customer needs.

General Skills

  • Communication & Presentation: Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally. Ability to “sell” an improvised or prepared audience winning story.
  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze highly complex data, from multiple sources, in detail; identify and resolve issues before they transpire.
  • Sales and Marketing Skills: To present and describe the Allianz value proposition to clients.

Required Education

  • Preferably a degree in Engineering, Business Science, Economics, or other appropriate discipline.
  • Completion of relevant professional insurance qualifications e.g., CII.

Language

  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Fluency in an Asian second language is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE / ROLE:

  • Underwrite profitable new and renewal business to meet Business targets locally/regionally.
  • Negotiation of participation, pricing and terms and conditions on accounts
  • Ownership of accounts / clients
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients.
  • Collaborate with other functions and/or entities within Allianz to provide a comprehensive insurance solution to clients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Underwrite Profitable Business

  • Underwrite new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom-line targets (local and/or regional).
  • Negotiate participation, pricing and terms and conditions with brokers. Proactively manage capacity.
  • Underwrite and evaluate Natural Catastrophe exposures and accumulation, ensuring an understanding of catastrophe modelling and interpretation of scenarios.
  • Design and execute compliant International Insurance Programs

Underwriting Approach and Compliance

  • Underwrite to the governance framework - e.g., Underwriting Authorities, global underwriting standards, guidelines, rules, and principles.
  • Achieve contract certainty on all accounts at time of inception.
  • Utilise global pricing tools.
  • Place and bind FAC Reinsurance prior to policy inception.

Policy Documentation and Administration

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive records and notes for each risk and transaction handled.
  • Proactively support completion of policy administration, documentation, and credit control

Underwriting Strategy & Leadership

  • Support development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy

Market & Relationship Management

  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business (including client and broker negotiations where necessary)
  • Proactively liaise with Distribution Management on sales planning and market management initiatives
  • Positively represent Allianz Commercial to the market in external events and meetings.
  • Collaborate with all functional areas in the Underwriting process, such as Distribution, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations and Legal & Compliance
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients and other relevant stakeholders such as trade associations or service providers.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships withinAllianz across functions and entities.
