JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Vice President, Investments will be a senior member of the investment team, and will play a key role in the identification, evaluation, recommendation, execution and management of investment opportunities in the renewable power and transition space that span across a range of decarbonization technologies including, but not limited to hydro, wind, solar, storage, CCUS, biofuels and other mature asset classes that are mature, commercially viable and investible at scale to facilitate the emission reduction of sectors across the economy, with a particular focus on power, transport and industrial sectors.
Working closely with the senior leadership, the successful candidate will be responsible for leading the end-to-end execution of a transaction, which includes conducting the financial due diligence and analysis, preparing the business case and gathering supporting bid documentation. In addition, the Senior Vice President will be developing business networks to find new investment targets. The candidate will also be involved in fundraising and LP management activities.
The ideal candidate will be a seasoned investment professional, recognized for their innovative problem solving and financial acumen. They will bring forth a depth of knowledge in the renewable power and transition space, and will have built a robust business sense and investment judgement, with a strong network of partners to source and execute on opportunities, as well as the leadership to be able to build a strong coverage team and business to oversee the Southeast Asia region.

Responsibilities

Origination

  • Support the implementation of the Southeast Asia renewable power and transition business development and transaction strategy
  • Lead industry and market research to support the development of investment strategies or identify transaction opportunities (acquisition and disposition) in relevant geographies in the Southeast Asia region. Conduct and oversee fundamental company and industry research.
  • Lead investment thesis and identification of value creation strategies and assist in developing ideas for a transaction / deal structure
  • Network and develop new investment ideas to grow the business

Execution

  • Lead the team in all stages of a transaction’s life cycle (origination, underwriting, acquisition and disposition), collaborating with internal functional partners and business group leads as well as interfacing with counterparties and external advisors;
  • Lead the due diligence process for a transaction that supports the validation of the business case supporting an acquisition and identify key transaction issues. This includes modelling and valuation analysis, working with internal functional teams such as tax, legal, finance, operations, market, etc.
  • Lead negotiation, documentation and structuring of the transaction
  • Lead the preparation and presentation of investment materials to senior internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise and articulate manner

Asset Management

  • Constantly and strategically thinking of ways to better portfolio companies / investments, functional units within the platform and the company as a whole
  • Work with management teams on strategic business initiatives at portfolio companies
  • Monitor ongoing financial and operational performance of investments

Leadership

  • Identify, hire, manage, coach and develop talent by leading, overseeing and coaching investment professionals. Provide constructive and timely feedback to ensure quality team outcomes.
  • Represented Brookfield externally and be a strong ambassador for Brookfield going forward.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience as an investment professional;
  • Exposure to the infrastructure and / or renewable power and transition industry in the Southeast Asia region is a significant asset
  • A proven track record of leading a team throughout the end-to-end execution of a transaction;
  • Superior financial modelling and due diligence capabilities;
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Exercises sound and thoughtful judgement with strong leadership abilities to empower and mobilize a team
  • Organized and detail-oriented; ability to work in situations with changing priorities and multiple simultaneous assignments;
  • Ability to work with deal team members that are located across geographies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication; experience presenting analyses to senior leaders and ability to lead and drive initiatives.
  • Team-oriented; excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop collaborative relationships at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strategic and long-term thinker with strong analytical and creative problem-solving ability, with ability to think laterally for the benefit of the division and company as a whole
  • Self-motived with respect to both managing workload and own professional development
  • A professional, positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic, fast-paced and team-oriented culture
