Description:

Working at Transurban is different; it’s a place where you can see the benefits of your work play out in real life, every day. We create city-sized solutions—building and operating safer, smarter, and more sustainable roads—to solve pressing transport challenges that are slowing cities down.
About the role
We’re seeking a Senior Web Engineer to navigate across the full-stack with a focus on front-end, seamlessly merging user interface design and back-end development. Your role will be pivotal in delivering software through the implementation of Agile and DevOps practices.
You’ll be part of our Digital Web Services team, collaborating with high-calibre, dynamic developers, crafting code for exceptional results.
As our Senior Web Engineer, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key internal stakeholders and actively contribute to the broader Transurban DevOps and Agile communities of practice.
  • Be accountable for the solution design, build, and maintenance of optimal software designs including the engagement and interactions with 3rd party vendors.
  • Be a part of Agile ceremonies such as Stand-ups, Retros, and planning sessions coupled with general coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Create, review, modify and enhance source code where appropriate, delivered for Continuous integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD).
  • Consult closely with the business and 3rd party vendors to provide subject matter knowledge, assess risk, and solicit feedback on delivery and quality to continuously improve the customer experience.

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Digital industry experience, particularly in building full-stack websites with a primary emphasis on frontend development.
  • Extensive experience in modern React (JavaScript framework) with hooks and Redux.
  • Experience with testing frameworks, such as Jest.
  • Hands-on experience integrating frontend components with backend services/layers like Mulesoft, Okta, etc.
  • Experience working in a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform/environment.
  • Basic understanding of a Content Management System (CMS) platform, preferably AEM (Adobe Experience Manager), with experience in integrating React with AEM.
  • Ability to define and communicate technical direction, making decisions for successful implementation of customer-first solutions.
  • Experience integrating frontend modules with Restful APIs
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (written and verbal) with the ability to deal effectively with both internal and external personnel at all levels
  • Reliable, insights-driven, self-motivated, and able to handle the challenges of a varied role in a dynamic organisation.
  • Tertiary education with a focus on Computing, Engineering, Science, or Technology, or equivalent full-time industry experience.

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year
  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well
  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests
  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more
  • Share offers and insurance benefits
  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.
We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.
We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability.
