We are currently a team of 30 thinkers, creators, coders and great coffee makers and we are looking for a likeminded individual to join our growing and exciting team!
As our new Senior WordPress Developer, you’ll have the opportunity to thrive in a varied, exciting role, which spans all aspects of digital development. Within this role you’ll be working collaboratively with the digital development team, and reporting to our Head of Development Stefan.
You will be supporting a diverse range of clients – from market-leading household names to smaller niche organisations and your role would encompass developing diverse, digital projects from concept to completion, as well as supporting your wider team on more complex projects. This role would ideally suit an individual who can think both logically and creatively, in order to produce high-quality work that stands the test of time.
Here at Ultimate, we believe in the power of collaboration and knowledge sharing, so as well as working with your own team, you’d also be collaborating with our in-house Design and Account Management teams to foster our ethos of mutual support and learning.
If you’re inspired by the latest technologies, a team that listens, values your ideas and a challenge sparks your interest, this role will be perfect for you.

Responsibilities

  • Creating logical, but cutting-edge solutions for a varied range of client briefs, and delivering world-class digital websites (take a look at some of the websites we’ve built here!)
  • Assisting your colleagues, both in Development and wider teams, with client pitches, where you’ll help by solving client requirements with digital solutions
  • Being involved with internal and external meetings, sharing ideas, solutions and concepts with clients and co-workers alike
  • Collaborating with our in-house Design team to combine your digital skills with creative designs and formats, to produce original, unique websites with excellent functionality
  • See development as a hobby rather than a job and show a keen interest in (and awareness of) developments and advances in digital industries which touch upon your work
  • Contributing to the progression, adaptability and success of the business

Ideal experience and skills

  • Experience working within an agency or an in-house team.
  • Strong understanding of back-end development using PHP and MySQL.
  • Should have strong front-end skills including CSS and Sass, as well as a good working knowledge of JavaScript, including JS framework experience – ideally Vue.js.
  • We build WordPress sites from the ground up. You will need to have the ability and understanding to be able to plan and build your own custom post types, flexible template components and bespoke WordPress plug-ins. A good knowledge of utilising WordPress’ hooks, actions and filters is a must.
  • With our projects, we are often digitising business processes. This often includes integrating 3rd-party systems into our website builds. You will have a proven experience of working with APIs and integrating with other digital platforms.
  • As an Agency we are often working to tight deadlines so you will need to possess great time management skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills are key, and we’d love it if you had proofreading and English language skills to help with your work, as well as an eye for detail
  • Most importantly, you’ll have a real enthusiasm and passion for digital development and a commitment to delivering outstanding results for clients!

Equal opportunities
Ultimate Creative Communications is committed to the creation of a diverse environment and we are proud to be an equal opportunities employer. All applicants for this or any other position with us will receive equal consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, gender identity or expression, religion, or any other identity they may have.
You’ll know if we’re the right fit for you.
