Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The primary purpose of the Forestry Service Manager is to manage the QPF asset repairs, servicing, and compliance, to support operations efficiently and effectively.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Implementation and monitoring of service schedules and repair plans
  • Manage repair quality, costs, time and availability to reduce downtime of machinery
  • Monitor machinery condition, age profile and hours, and make recommendations to refurbish machinery and target component replacement at pre-determined hours to reduce costly in field breakdowns and extended machinery downtime
  • Undertake regular audits to ensure machinery is compliant and meets all govt safety regulation
  • Monitor machinery operating costs and take steps to reduce hourly run costs, fuel burn, idle time, tire wear, front end damage etc
  • Ensure workshops are adequately resourced for tooling and staff levels to effectively service and maintain machinery and reduce reliance on third party service providers
  • Manager third party service providers costs and ensure they are providing necessary resources when required to meet machinery availability requirements to the business
  • Regularly engage third party suppliers to deliver best price on parts and service costs
  • Monitor and manage workshop operating costs to meet budgeted guidelines
  • Ensure staff, have the correct qualifications and they are adequately trained to perform allocated tasks
  • Meet the company monthly SHS KPIs for workshop inspections, CRC, and safety engagements
  • Actively monitor and inspect workshop working conditions and implement housekeeping and tidiness cleaning regimes
  • Monitor and manage staff performance and productivity
  • Ensure the workplace is free form bullying and harassment
  • Monitor oil samples and follow up on contaminated samples
  • Monitor workshop parts stock levels and manage staff to ensure stocks levels are maintained for high turnover parts and make sure service providers are carrying adequate stock levels
  • Manage fleet software systems
  • Produce P/O’s and submit Capex requests for approvals
  • Sign off and interrogate invoice discrepancies and follow up on queries
  • Provide necessary technical support and advice to the operational teams and mechanical staff
  • Produce monthly reports and meet milestones and AP’s inside the ETVIA platform
  • Make recommendations on acquisitions to improve productivity, reduce operating costs, reduce potential hazards and staff interaction with machinery
  • Follow up on warranty claims and repairs
  • Monitor operations to ensure staff are using machinery correctly and report abuse and damage
  • Co-ordinates the implementation of occupational health and safety requirements
  • Directs staff activities and monitor their performance
