Salary: $99,996 - $122,359 (Plus 11.5% Super)
Location: The Canberra Hospital, Woden. North Canberra Hospital, Bruce. Goulburn Base Hospital, Goulburn.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS

Mandatory

  • Be registered or be eligible for registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Postgraduate year three, or above, and previous experience or training in a hospital-based training program. The successful applicant will need to be available for weekend and after-hours work.

Current Basic Life Support skills as a minimum, and Advanced Life Support skills where required.

  • Demonstrate commitment to training and continuing professional development including participation in relevant teaching programs, activities, and feedback opportunities, involvement in research, and teaching of junior medical staff and/or medical students

CHS is leading the drive to digitally transform health service delivery in Australia through the implementation of a territory wide Digital Health Record. Computer literacy skills are required which are relevant to this role as you will be responsible for completing required documentation and becoming a proficient user of the Digital Health Record and/or other Information Technology systems; once proficient, you will need to remain current with changes, updates and contingencies.

Desirable

  • Have an understanding of how the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) indicators align with this role.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of this role in alignment to the CHS Exceptional Care Framework, Clinical Governance Framework, Partnering With Consumers Framework and all other related frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the Australian health system.

Responsibilities:

Under limited direction of the allocated supervisor, you will perform the following duties. You will:
1. Provide competent and efficient clinical management of patients of Canberra Health Services under the supervision and direction of a consultant supervisor. Clinical duties will include assessment and management of acute presentations, inpatient care, diagnosis and management of patients in outpatient clinics, consultations, and attending and actively participating in clinical handover.
2. Participate in the supervision, training and professional development of junior medical staff, allied health professionals and medical students.
3. Be prepared to work at either Canberra Hospital, University of Canberra Hospital and/or North Canberra Hospital in the capacity of a senior resident medical officer (SRMO), as required by the rostering team.
4. Participate in the 24/7 rosters, including evening, overnight, weekend shifts and on-call commitments as required and according to changing organisational needs.
5. Comply with the policies and requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and the policies of the Health Directorate.
6. Undertake other duties appropriate to this level of classification which contribute to the operation of the organisation.
