Founded by the Frack family in 1932, Fracks has been a leader in Australia’s Compressed Air Industry ever since. Fracks is a well known family business trusted by the best Australian Brands including, Qantas, The Sydney Taronga Zoo, and more! We manufactured our hand-built compressors up until the 1980’s. Kaeser’s first rotary screw compressors were built in the 1970’s, seeing a great opportunity which also matched the Fracks standard of compressors and servicing – Fracks and Kaeser teamed up. Fracks and Kaeser have been working closely together since the mid to late 80’s. Fracks has been a proud fully licensed and accredited distributor for Kaeser for over 3 decades. This relationship has seen us grow many industries in NSW such as food processing, hospitals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, breweries and many more.
We are looking for a Service Technician to join our Team. As a Service Technician, you are responsible for performing preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on industrial compressed air systems. Your main responsibility is to perform diagnostics on malfunctioning air compressors by determining the causes for issues and perform those repairs based on the diagnosis.

Responsibilities:

  • Travel to client sites to troubleshoot and maintain industrial compressed air systems, various types of air dryers, and other air system components
  • Perform diagnostics and determine causes for malfunctions on defective compressed air equipment and mechanical equipment
  • Provide failure analysis and equipment/system recommendations to improve reliability and/or performance
  • Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on all types of compressed air equipment
  • Carry out service, maintenance, and repair work on all types of mechanical equipment
  • Consult with and advise clients on compressed air equipment needs, maintenance, and repairs
  • Liaise with customers in a courteous and professional manner at all times
  • Carry out installation and commissioning of compressed air products
  • Read and comprehend operational manuals, electrical schematics, and parts breakdowns
  • Follow provided business requirements and designs as close as possible
  • Document service and installation activities by completing work orders for each job
  • Provide feedback to senior team members on the working conditions on/offsite
  • Monitor stock levels in your service vehicle, advising of low levels immediately to ensure your work is carried out as efficiently as possible
  • Complete servicing on company vehicles as required
  • Research and keep up to date with any industry standards and best practices necessary to complete any tasks
  • Research potential business leads and develop a sales approach to acquire more customers when required
  • Work in conjunction with the directors to drive business and service growth up
  • Perform a broad range of skilled applications and evaluate and analyse current practices to improve the operational functions of the business
  • Develop new criteria and procedures for performing current practices
  • Provide leadership in a team leader role and provide guidance to others in the application and planning of skills
  • Provide technical assistance over the phone to other staff and customers
  • Assist in the search of future trainees and office staff
  • Follow all reasonable instructions given to you by any of the company’s directors & associates
  • •Complete all assigned tasks to a reasonable standard as determined by the business
  • Notify the directors where your experience with a set programming language necessary for a task would interfere with the quality and speed with which you could complete the task

    Candidate are required to possess the following:

  • Previous experience as Compressed Air Service Technician – preferably at least 3 years experience

  • Holds a current Cert III or higher in a mechanical, engineering, electrical trade
  • Holds a White Card
  • Able to operate a forklift
  • Keep up to date with new procedures in the industry
  • Good ability to conduct diagnostic troubleshooting is a must
  • Extensive amount of customer knowledge (site entry requirements, etc)
  • Holds a valid Driver’s license and clean driving record
