Responsibilities:

JOB PURPOSE

We are looking for Senior Financial Officer to generate; analyse and report reliable; meaningful financial and non-financial information to support the requirements and decision making of the business; in line with Nedbank’s strategy.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Forecast and predict monthly flash report towards end of every month by analysing trends and cost drivers.
  • Generate and compare flash results performance to various budget figures and measure growth against previous periods by performing a variance analysis.
  • Ensure that reporting deadlines are met to the finance team and stakeholders by adhering to set deadlines.
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial, non financial and ad-hoc reports by collating or extracting data from various sources, analysing and interpreting results, including insightful commentary, of the products & units rolling up into Consumer Banking Segment.
  • Responsible for preparation and loading of budgets and forecasts, within turnaround times, by gathering business requirements, understanding business trends, initiatives to support growth, and making recommendations where appropriate.
  • Analytics of client segment profitability and financials (income statement, balance sheet & related ratios)
  • Work with the business to review and refine Business cases, facilitate necessary approvals from Execs, and track actuals post-implementation.

  • Income Statement and Balance Sheet management, which includes but is not limited to : Monthly Balance Sheet recons, ensuring general ledger entries are accurate and correctly posted by checking relevant reports, and querying incorrect postings.
  • Meet deadlines by working according to a self-guided monthly calendar.
  • Responsible for supporting internal and external audit where necessary
  • Assisting with half year and year-end external reporting for Consumer Banking Segment.
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external relationships by attending relevant meetings and regular communication
  • Keep abreast of legislation and other industry changes that impacts on role by reading the relevant newsletters, websites and attending sessions.
  • Understand and embrace the Nedbank vision and demonstrate the values through interaction with team and stakeholders.
  • Improve personal capability and stay abreast of developments in field of expertise by identifying training courses and career progression for self through input and feedback from managers.
  • Ensure personal growth and enable effectiveness in performance of roles and responsibilities by ensuring all learning activities are completed, experience practiced and certifications obtained and/or maintained within specified time frames.
  • Ensure information is provided correctly to stakeholders by maintaining knowledge sharing knowledge with team.

  • Participate and support corporate social responsibility initiatives for the achievement of key business strategies.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance processes, systems and policies and support implementation of new processes, policies and systems.
