How you make a difference:
The Shift Supervisor, Captain oversees the daily shift operations of the security staff, including scheduling, mentoring, and performance management. They are responsible for ensuring compliance with facility policies and maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The Shift Supervisor, Captain also collaborates with other departments and management to address security concerns and develop strategies for improving overall security measures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists Security Director in planning, organizing, directing and evaluating security procedures to ensure maximum security at all times.
  • Monitors and maintains security, sanitation, and safety of company buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, and ensures compliance with regulations.
  • Documents and reports all discrepancies, malfunctions, safety hazards, and security breaches, and initiates investigations of alleged incidents.
  • Provides supervision and training to assigned personnel, evaluates performance, and maintains communication with assigned Officers.
  • Coordinates and provides assistance to medical staff in the healthcare of patients, and serves as safety officer for preplanned Use of Force incidents.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in correctional, security or police work – two (2) of which has been in a medium/maximum security setting or three (3) of which have been in a minimum security setting. Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory capacity. Must have the ability to pass a background check and drug screen. Must be able to pass and maintain clearance for a Public Trust Position

Licenses/Certifications

  • Satisfactory completion of academic and on-the-job training as required for certification as a Custody Officer. Must possess a valid driver’s license in the state employed.
