Our main Crown Paints manufacturing plant in Hull, East Yorkshire is seeking a Shift Manager to join the team. While the world sleeps, the Operations Shift Manager ensures the gears of production never stop turning!
Steering a skilled team through the moonlit hours, you’ll ensure a seamless operation, nurture a culture of excellence, and safeguard both efficiency and well-being. Reporting to the Head of Production (UKI), you will also contribute to the ongoing development of our manufacturing plant and people for top-tier performance.

Here are some of the other things you can look forward to:

  • Leadership and Culture Building: Provide clear direction and foster continuous development among Hull Manufacturing shift teams, promoting a positive and collaborative work culture.
  • Health & Safety: Collaborate with management colleagues to uphold the health and safety of Hull Manufacturing plants and employees, ensuring compliance with regulations and permits.
  • Pioneering Operational Performance: Challenge existing practices to establish best-in-class manufacturing standards, staying updated with the latest technology, processes, equipment, legislation, and methods.
  • Customer-Centric Approach: Ensure on-time, in-full delivery of the manufacturing plan, aligned with customer needs.
  • Budget and Cost Management: Assume responsibility for budgetary control in Hull manufacturing, delivering the budgeted cost per litre.
  • Strategic Manufacturing Vision & Champion of Continuous Improvement: Collaborate with the Operations management team to develop, implement, and achieve manufacturing strategic goals. Drive effective and sustained application of lean principles and techniques at the Hull Site, including RCA, 5 Whys, Kaizen, and 6S.

What will you need to be successful?

  • Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, empowering others to achieve, innovate, and improve through respectful relationships built on integrity.
  • Experience in deploying Lean Manufacturing Tools & Techniques.
  • Minimum NEBOSH general certificate
  • Ability to challenge existing practices to deliver cost-effective solutions and align production with customer demands.
  • Innovative approach to problem solving, setting a work example that fosters pride and support for customers.
  • Customer-focused approach
  • Passionate about sustainability and able to leads by example in sustainability efforts, contributing to Hempel FutureProof goals.
