SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • A Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification or proven experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with mobile plant equipment, Caterpillar equipment is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on safety and relationship building.
  • Computer literate with intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office package.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and handle high work volumes, demonstrating strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work to meet competing deadlines.
  • A continuous improvement mindset, with a demonstrated ability to identify improvement initiatives and see them through to implementation.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

WesTrac has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor to join our Machine Rebuilds Workshop in our Tomago branch. This workshop runs a 24/7 operation and performs rebuilds on large scale surface mining equipment for an extensive customer base that extends across all of NSW and the ACT.
Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient day to day operations of the workshop. As the Shift Supervisor, you will lead a large team comprised of plant mechanics, boilermakers, auto electricians, apprentices, and trades assistants. As part of the Rebuilds team, you will work alongside other supervisors and the project management team to ensure work orders are completed on time and to the highest quality standard.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and supervise a team of tradespeople and apprentices, allocating work to ensure project timelines are met.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities to assist in the effective and efficient operation of the business.
  • Promote and demonstrate safety behaviours and reporting processes to ensure an ongoing safe working environment and the resolution of identified hazards.
  • Provide support and advice to the team as required to ensure minimal delays in jobs.
  • Effectively manage work orders to ensure productivity targets and quality standards are met.
