TotalEnergies has developed a strong expertise in oil and biofuels, natural gas and electricity trading. Trading entities are based in Geneva, Paris, Houston and Singapore.
TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).
T&S is the trading company in charge of all physical trading and shipping of crude oil and refined products including biofuels on behalf of the TotalEnergies. It has been a major and active participant all over the supply chain as well as on the derivatives paper market in order to manage market risk.

SUMMARY

As a Shipping Operator you will be working closely with Charterers, Traders and Trading operators and you will join T&S.
Operations team is a dynamic team of maritime experts with members in Geneva, Singapore and Houston. The Shipping Operations team is in charge of the execution and day to day operational management of chartered vessels. More generally all tanker vessels chartered by the Company, on an average over 200 vessels per day.
A shipping operator will follow on a day-to-day basis a pool of Time Chartered vessels and a number of spot chartered vessel.

Accountabilities

  • Shipping Operators ensure the safety and optimization of the vessel’s voyages.
  • Shipping Operators are the focal point of contact with ship owners to ensure ship’s availability and that vessels can comply with voyages set by Operations and Trading Departments.
  • Shipping Operations are in contact with the vessel managers and large variety of interlocutors worldwide while staying in close relationship with the Chartering Team, Technical and Vetting team, as well as Operations and Trading Department for day-to-day business. The jobholder is therefore the key interface between above mentioned teams and departments

Responsibilities:

  • Day to day operational management of spot and time chartered vessels whereby ensuring the safety and the proper execution of the charter party.
  • In direct contact with Masters concerning the operations of our TC vessels.
  • Manage commercial follow up of shipping agents and other ship services providers (inspection, brokers, STS Service providers, etc…)
  • Organise Ship to Ship Transhipment operations, hereby requesting quotations from STS service suppliers and appointing the selected STS provider.
  • Plan voyages of the time charter and spot vessels in association with the external and internal customers meet their needs
  • Identify and report all safety and security related matters (High risk area, condition of use, site safety etc…) which are then dealt in collaboration with concerned departments or external parties.
  • Checking shipping documents and dealing with Letters of Indemnity.
  • Implement terms and conditions of any new time charter party negotiated by Shipping Chartering team.
  • Take inventory of incidents and near miss incidents and report to management and manage with ship owners during off hire event in conjunction with chartering
  • Monitor performances of TC vessels and compliance with TCP. Follow performances calculation and prepare claims when required with good understanding of how the vessels are running to be able to challenge figures and identify inconsistencies.
  • Provide assistance and propose optimization for all shipping aspects (cargo operations, consumption, routing, ship’s constraints etc…) to Operations, Chartering and Trading Departments
  • Ensure rules and regulations are followed in ports and report any modification with potential impact on operations.
  • Manage and negociate all operational claims related to the execution of the charter party.
  • Validate shipping cost incurred during ship’s voyages and liaise with back office team to ensure invoice payment.
  • Collect Environmental data for the fleet within the framework of Sea Cargo Charter.
