REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • High-school Diploma
  • Red Seal Heavy Duty, Commercial truck, Diesel Engine and Automotive Journeyperson or Provincial Trade Certification (Canada)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Previous aerial platform and lift truck experience considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills and trouble shooting skills

Responsibilities:

As a Shop Technician your key responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnose and complete all repairs in a timely manner, while providing a variety of repair options that best meet the customer’s needs. Failure analysis may be required
  • Perform work as assigned by the Dispatcher and/or Chargehand
  • Fill out all necessary timecards for each job, documenting customer damage where required
  • Report all incidents and near misses immediately to their Service Manager and/or Safety Coordinator
  • Complete timecards using the 3C’s method (complaint, cause, correction)
  • Seek support from Chargehand, Service Manager or Tech Center when diagnosis time exceeds 2 hours with no solution in site
  • Identify any potential problems that may result in machine downtime to best maintain the equipment for both our retail and internal customers
  • Follow all current warranty processes as outlined by the manufacturer
  • Maintain a clean and tidy workspace, including parts shelves, workbenches and shop bays
  • Communicate with the Dispatcher after every job, ensuring they are up to date on the status of each repair
  • Work closely with the parts department to identify and order parts required, while adhering to the Parts and Service Agreement
  • Ensure all unused parts and cores are returned and accompanied by required paperwork within 24 hours
