Signalling IT Test and Integration Engineer
Join our dynamic team as a Signalling IT test and integration Engineer and become a vital contributor to one of Denmark’s largest IT infrastructure projects with Ground Transportation Systems Denmark.

As a Signalling IT test and integration Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in integrating external interfaces, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and shaping the future of transportation infrastructure in Denmark.
The project
At Ground Transportation Systems Denmark, we are spearheading the development and implementation of the new signaling systems for Bane Danmark. The adoption of the European Train Control System (ETCS) marks a significant leap forward in the modernization of Denmark’s railway network, positioning the country as a frontrunner in embracing this cutting-edge technology.
As we progress with the deployment of ETCS across Bane Danmark’s network in phased commissioning, the role of a validation engineer becomes crucial. This strategic approach ensures that different sections of the railway are equipped with the system over time, minimizing disruption to train services while facilitating rigorous testing and validation of the technology.
Your contribution will directly impact the long-term stability, efficiency, and competitiveness of Denmark’s railway network. By meticulously validating the ETCS system, you will help uphold the highest standards of safety and reliability, paving the way for a seamless transition to this state-of-the-art signaling technology. We imagine that you are a graduate within engineering, electronics, or IT with a special interest in rail operation and systems. If you also have some technical, project or administrative experience it is a plus. With your technical background and interest in rail this is a unique opportunity to learn about and be involved in the engineering and implementation of the new signalling system. Thales will operate and maintain 4 Test systems for the customer. Two are based on a virtualized system for training and data test, the other two are based on real equipment for Interface testing and re-producing of production defects / issues.

As a Signalling IT Test and Integration Engineer, you will

  • Test and install the system deliveries on different platform
  • Responsible for the integration of the delivered features in the system
  • Test and install network & security related equipment’s (Switch, Router, Firewall)
  • Create, correct and update test documentation (plan, procedures and reports)
  • Testing (plan, supervise, report and execute)
  • Leading test activities and signing hand over report to customer
  • Analyse, troubleshoot and correct defects related to tests and support development
  • Update site specific installation instructions to support installation team and handover
  • Take part in the continuous improvement of the Test and Commissioning process, and tools to reduce effort and improve quality
  • Integration of new interfaces and featured in the system
  • Alignment with development and customer for test scenarios and integration
  • Support commissioning activities in the field and traffic control center

Skills and experience

  • IT knowledge in Virtualization (VM-Ware), Networking, Linux and scripting
  • OS related skills such as basic Linux, Windows, Server handling and scripting
  • Knowledge of programming languages like and understanding of scripts based on Bash, C, C++ and Java
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in IT, engineering, electronics or similar
  • Knowledge of railway operation and signalling principles is an advantage
  • Professional use of Microsoft Office, including a high level of expertise and experience working with Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Danish or German are considered a plus
  • An independent and responsible working attitude is required, e.g. manage and plan own work day and the ability to seek solutions independently
