The Boeing Company is seeking a Silk Screener B Combination to join our teams supporting Boeing Commercial Airplanes in Everett, WA.
Employees in this position mix multicolor ink to correct viscosity and color/hue. Set-up, and operate precision decorative silk screen printing machine for production/post production aircraft interior panels or trim decoration.
Workers in this position lead, train and perform manufacturing decals, metalcals, placards, and signs, using established label making methods, that are transferred onto a variety of materials for installation on Boeing aircraft and facilities
Must work in a climate-controlled environment and pass an eye color/hue test.
Employment in this position also requires, standing, walking lifting up to 35 pounds, rotation of head/neck, exposure to noise and energized sources and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand and ears.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Ability to Recognize Colors
  • Experience with Silk Screen Printing

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Perform ink formulation (e.g., measure ink by weight, machine mix ink, apply ink to test specimen, dry in oven).

OTHER RELEVANT INFORMATION & REQUIREMENTS

Responsibilities:

  • Obtain work order (W/O) from industrial engineering (IE) as delivered to ink room.
  • Obtain and review Boeing Specifications, illustrations, sketches, Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and verbal or written orders needed to accomplish job.
  • Obtain ink formula by accessing computer data base for each color required for that particular job.
  • Perform ink formulation (e.g., measure ink by weight, machine mix ink, apply ink to test specimen, dry in oven).
  • Use Spectramatch computer to test dried ink specimen, from reading on computer, add color, or toner for required color.
  • Use hand push cart to transport the formulated ink in bucket/containers to silk screen machine production line.
  • Operate water/solvent based ink precision screen machine by obtaining silk screen frame from rack, placing silk on printing press, index silk frame to substrate, pour bead of ink, load flood bar and squeegee to make prints, send through dryer, repeat these operations for each color.
  • Use on line printing control program to assist in machine silk screen operations.
  • Check ink color by using light room to match ink color against master test specimen.
  • Perform rework and touch-up of decorative interior parts by using appropriate equipment (e.g., artist brush, air brush) to complete job.
  • Remove silk screen frame from printing press, hand load on dolly and transport to wash room for ink cleaning process (e.g., pressure wash add detergent to screen , hand scrub with brush), return silk screen frame to storage rack.
  • Maintain and clean silk screen machine equipment (e.g., flood bar, squeegee) after color check or production run.
  • Move production parts, using appropriate material handling equipment (e.g., overhead crane, man aboard stacker).
  • Perform on board aircraft interior post production silk screen pattern check.
  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in approved manner.
  • File work packets in ink room filing cabinet and maintain silk screen records.
