Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as Simulation Training Fellow and would be well-suited for a doctor who has successfully completed their Foundation Programme or Basic Specialist Training. The post comes with the option of having two days a week of clinical work in a speciality of choice, subject to discussions and agreements in advance. Thus, these posts are useful for doctors needing competencies in speciality areas that they hope to progress in future training. We consider them developmental and encourage work-based assessments, enrolling for an e-portfolio or doing relevant exams.
Interviews to be held on 13 May 2024
The post holder will be mostly based at the Postgraduate Medical Centre at County Hospital, Stafford where our state-of-the-art Extended Reality Lab (ERL) is situated. The purpose-built ERL provides a flexible immersive learning environment, using motion capture cameras and four-wall video projection to mimic real-world scenarios. Together with our viewing gallery it’s the perfect safe learning environment for any simulation training. The centre also features a soundproof recording studio which will allow staff to create podcasts and vlogs to share with a wider audience. The potential to develop bespoke programmes that use technology enhanced learning (TEL) at the centre is immense and the post-holder will have the opportunity and support to develop innovative TEL based courses.
University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust is one of the largest and most modern in the country. Based across two sites, Royal Stoke in Stoke-on-Trent and County Hospital in Stafford, we are proud to serve around three million people and we’re highly regarded for our facilities, teaching and research. We are the specialist centre for major trauma for the North Midlands and North Wales.
All of our employees make a valuable contribution regardless of role here at UHNM and we are proud of our wide range of development packages aimed at ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to fulfil their true potential.

We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer and foster a culture in which all staff feel valued and respected. In return we ask all of our employees to make a commitment to the values, co-created by or staff, patients and carers, and that unite us as a Trust.
At University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust we know that investing in, supporting and developing our staff has a direct impact on the quality of care that we deliver. Our employees are as important as our patients and the population that we serve.
The post holder will work with the UHNM Simulation team to develop and deliver high quality multi-professional simulation and skills-based education to Postgraduate Doctors and other allied health professionals. While the role will predominantly be focussed on simulation-based training of Foundation Doctors, the post holder will be expected to contribute to the development and delivery of simulation training for other groups. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone with interest in simulation-based education to develop their skills in this area, with full training and support given
