AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY HAS BECOME AVAILABLE FOR A BAND 6 SISTER/CHARGE NURSE TO JOIN OUR ORTHOPAEDIC TEAM AT THE ROYAL OLDHAM HOSPITAL.

As a Ward Sister / Charge Nurse you will be responsible for supporting your Ward Manager within a management role and supporting the ward staff in delivering high nursing care for patients that have undergone emergency orthopaedic surgery.
You will work alongside the Practice Based Educator and in ensuring all training is up to date, you will also work along side and work against the NAAS standards.
You will act as a role model, demonstrating expert clinical practice and will be confident in challenging poor practice. You will also be required to work and manage all areas within the department and demonstrate a professional manner and clinical expertise with good communication skills in all aspects of their work.

Main duties of the job
T7 is currently a 32 bedded emergency Orthopaedic trauma area that cares for patients that have under gone Orthopaedic surgeries. The ward is managed by one Ward Manager and a team of nurses who work closely with other members of clinical staff, trauma coordinators, doctors, therapists and specialist nurses. We are a dementia friendly ward and work together as a team to provide a high standard of care.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will be involved in effectively supporting and leading staff to ensure high quality care is delivered at all times. You will undertake the Nurse in Charge role, coordinating, delegating and supporting the management and planning of nursing care whilst maintaining patient safety.

This vacancy is open to those who have a current NMC PIN to practice as an Registered Nurse or Midwife in the UK, or those who are currently enrolled on a course which means they expect to receive their full NMC PIN within the next 3 months. Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
