Description:
Key Responsibilities Promote and set high standards of professional nursing care and maintain the delivery of quality care within the trust values, policies, protocols and guidelines. Provide professional nursing leadership to staff within sphere of clinical responsibility. Lead and motivate staff by giving clear direction and setting achievable objectives, managing conflict and trouble shooting daily operational and clinical issues Take an in-depth history and evaluate existing and previously unknown health issues. To perform a full clinical physical assessment including ECG recognition.
Clinical decision making skills, liaising with specialist teams to create preoperative care management plans to ensure patient optimisation. Working automatously to provide referrals to internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills to ensure all information is disseminated accurately to patients, relatives and members of the MDT. Provide teaching to all staff as part of an ongoing development programme.
Support Clinical Manager with sickness, RTW interviews, and roster management. Support the Clinical Manager with change strategies and identify areas for improvement. Lead on and participate in Audits Maintain a high visible presence within the clinical area ensuring that patients, visitors, healthcare staff and the multidisciplinary team, have access to senior staff at all times. Act as an effective professional role model and expert clinician.
With the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse contribute to the department philosophy and models of care to ensure that all policies and procedures are implemented. Ensure that all staff understand the significance of this philosophy to practice, monitoring its impact on the patient experience
