As a Band 6 you will be required to co-ordinate and manage a busy and demanding ward on a daily basis, be the first line support for junior staff and manage your own team of staff, including sickness and absence management, carrying out personal development reviews and managing off duty requirements.
Experience on an acute medical ward is required but oncology experience is not, we are here to help you develop in the role.
To work collaboratively with and provide support to the unit managers. To take responsibility for the management of the department, including patient care and skill mix, and the development and support of the nursing staff in the absence of the ward manager.
To demonstrate initiative and vision in continuing to move the service forward whilst assisting in implementing service changes / developments.
The ward 11 team is a friendly and welcoming team who work closely and have good relationships with a wide range of departments across the trust.

TRAINING & EDUCATION
Complete the Ward Introductory Pack and Preceptor pack
Complete relevant in-house level 1 and 2 I.V. training programmes and ensure regular updates
Participate and undertake research and audit which will influence practice
To be up to date in all IV training programs including annual updates and competent in all areas of clinical practice including assessment of critically ill patient and competent in performing ECG’s
Attend all mandatory study days
