JOB SUMMARY

AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) is seeking a professional civil engineer as a full‐time Industrial Project Engineer for our Tualatin, Oregon office. You will work closely with our principals and multidisciplinary task leads on the delivery of large-scale industrial construction projects. This opening is ideal for a registered professional who can take the lead on design of high-tech industrial land development projects and can independently manage projects.

IDEAL CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in civil engineering design related to industrial, commercial, or high-tech site development projects
  • BS in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree (required)
  • Oregon Professional Engineer (Civil) License (required)
  • Various civil engineering technical skills required
  • Demonstrated experience as a project manager successfully delivering site development projects in Oregon
  • Knowledge and familiarity with local codes and agency standards
  • Civil 3D and/or MicroStation/InRoads design experience
  • Possess valid US driver’s license
  • Experience and or training in project management
  • Basic understanding of financial reports, solid time management, and follow‐through skills, and the proven ability to manage a multi‐disciplinary team with a positive, flexible approach.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including proposal and report writing
  • Self‐motivated, proactive, detail‐oriented, and good organizational skills
  • Ability to work quickly, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Reputation for high level of client service

Job Functions & Responsibilities: This role will provide project management and leadership of high-tech industrial and commercial site development projects. You will have direct client interaction, manage two to three engineering technicians, and also manage outside subconsultants for other necessary expertise. Specific responsibilities of this job include:

  • Managing all components of the project from proposal through construction
  • Developing and managing project scope, budget, and schedule
  • Performing site and infrastructure design per county/city standards and maintaining good communication with the planning/engineering staff of the jurisdiction to minimize future changes and misunderstandings
  • Providing technical leadership for project design team
  • Coordinating with other in-house disciplines, as well as outside subconsultants to prepare appropriate designs, as dictated by the project scope of work
  • Analyze complex design problems requiring the implementation and/or development of new or improved techniques or procedures
  • Managing and mentoring engineering staff to develop plans, specifications, and reports
  • Stamping final deliverables
  • Providing QA/QC review of deliverables
  • Networking with clients, agency personnel, and colleagues to build/maintain professional network
  • Maintaining relationships with clients to develop future opportunities
  • Actively participating in monthly in-house Project Management Meetings
  • Driving company-owned vehicle to job sites and meetings
  • Doing what needs to be done
