SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certificate IV OHS/WHS (minimum)
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • ICAM Incident Lead Investigation Certificate
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar role within construction industry
  • Operational experience in High Risk Work
  • Intermediate computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Current First Aid certificate
  • Current clean National Police Clearance

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As the Site Safety Advisor reporting to the HSE Manager and Site Safety Superintendent you will be responsible for the implementation and adherence of Health Safety Environmental (HSE) systems on site at the West Musgrave Project on a 2 week on 1 week off roster.

THE SITE SAFETY ADVISOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Conduct site specific inductions and Health Safety Environment (HSE) training including Verification of Competency, Site familiarisations (personnel returning from R&R)
  • Supervise daily BAC testing
  • Conducting daily site inspections of GRES and contractors operations
  • Attend and participate in the HSE committee (where elected)
  • Consultation, communication and promotion of project safety
  • Assist with hazard identification and control
  • Reporting of records and statistics
  • Develop and conduct safety pre start and toolbox meetings
  • Take an active role in project risk assessment workshop and review
  • Responsible for ensuring all site personnel comply with the site, safety and environmental requirements
  • Ensure GRES/Client HSE policies and procedures are adhered to
  • Ensure risk assessments and site inspections are conducted including Daily Area, Safe Behaviour, Critical Control & weekly General Site Hazard Appraisals
  • Review audits and ensure timely action is taken to close out non-conformances
  • Responsible for managing all HSE issues for the Project and to ensure project specific HSE standards are maintained throughout the construction period
  • Implement the HSE site specific plans for the Project and review quarterly
  • Develop a specific Project induction and ensure all personnel entering the Site have the appropriate knowledge of the project work area
  • Ensure that all Incidents and Accidents are investigated and the reports are completed and lodged through the site safety systems as required
  • Ensure that the Safety statistics are maintained and reported on for the project
  • Implementation of effective Risk mitigation strategies including Emergency Response
  • Order and maintain Personal Protective Equipment
  • Review Risk Assessments - Job Safety Analysis and Take 5’s in the field
  • Maintain Site Master Register
  • Follow GRES / Client policies, company standards and safe work procedures
  • Maintain Chemicals on site including current SDS
  • Ensure pre-starts are carried out, documented and sent to the supplier where applicable
  • Maintain Classified/Itinerant Plant records
  • Ensure pre-mobilisations are carried out on all plant and equipment
  • Complete daily, weekly and Monthly HSE reports
  • Develop and maintain Traffic Management Plans
  • Maintain equipment requiring calibration i.e. wall mount BAC machines, Defibrillators
    Note: Additional roles and responsibilities may be assigned by the Manager – HSE/Senior Safety & Training Co-ordinator within the capabilities of the Senior Site Safety Advisors skills and qualifications.
