Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Social Media Coordinator’s duties are to coordinate SSMU’s social media, respond to inquiries, review and suggest new content, and provide recommendations for social media student engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diligence and impartiality in execution of duties;
  • Ability to work in a high-pressure environment;
  • Strong communication skills in English and French;
  • Highly organized and strong attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of social media and marketing contents;
  • Available on-call and on weekends, or as required;
  • Knowledge of the SSMU’s Internal Regulations, Constitution, Policies, Plans and Committee Terms of Reference.

Responsibilities:

  • Research audience preferences and discover current trends;
  • Create engaging text, image and video content;
  • Design posts to sustain readers’ curiosity and create buzz;
  • Measure web traffic;
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in all social platforms, ensuring maximum effectiveness;
  • Train co-workers to use social media in a cohesive and beneficial way
  • Facilitate online conversations on social media and respond to queries;
  • Report on online reviews and feedback;
  • Develop an optimal posting schedule, considering web traffic and customer engagement metrics;
  • Oversee social media accounts’ layout;
  • Suggest new ways to attract funds, like promotions and competitions.
  • To undertake other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Communications Manager and/or the Executive Committee.
