Description:
The Manager, Social Media for OEG Sports & Entertainment is the lead social media role with a primary focus on content relating to the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club. You are, in essence, the voice of the team on social media, responsible for hockey coverage, corporate partner activations, marketing initiatives and all related reporting.
This is a 14-month term position starting in July 2024 and concluding in September 2025.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Degree or diploma in social media, digital media, communications, journalism or a related field
- Five or more years of experience in social media management for a sports team or other prominent consumer or media brand, with hockey experience considered a tremendous asset
- Extensive knowledge of both present and past Edmonton Oilers teams and players
- Extensive knowledge of the National Hockey League’s teams, players, operations, rules, etc.
- Superb attention to detail, command of the English language and organization skills
- Graphic design and/or video editing and/or photography experience all assets
- Able to develop fruitful working relationships as part of a tight-knit digital media team
- Eager to work evenings, weekends and holidays as part of the hockey club’s schedule
- Cleared for travel to away games and NHL events in Canada or the United States as needed

Responsibilities:
- Provide engaging social media coverage of the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Club, including but not limited to home games, away games, practices, community events, NHL marquee events and press conferences on platforms including but not limited to X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook and TikTok
- Collaborate daily with the Director, Digital Media on content strategy, posting schedule and trends
- Generate platform growth and engagement to achieve digital department goals for the season
- Assist with content creation on secondary social channels (Hunter, Oilers Community Foundation)
- Support the Rogers Place and ICE District marketing team with social media content as required
- Assist with the production of videos and graphics for use on the Oilers social media channels
- Support sponsorship, ticketing, community, corporate PR and gaming social media content
- Provide fan engagement and customer service via direct messages, replies and comments
- Compile analytics reports and insights on the performance of social media content
- Liaise with Oilers hockey operations on player social content and collaboration opportunities
