Position: Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant
Datacom Location: Anywhere in Australia (see below for Datacom office locations)
Our Why
Datacom works with organisations and communities across Australia and New Zealand to make a difference in people’s lives and help organisations use the power of tech to innovate and grow.
About the Role (Your Why)
As a Consulting member of the award-winning SAM team, you will be supported and valued, working collaboratively across a range of SAM consulting projects and managed services. This is your chance to bring your positive attitude and to make your mark in a business by joining this rapidly growing team of skilled colleagues who have a broad spectrum of SAM and licensing expertise and a laser focus on customer outcomes. The role doesn’t involve software licensing sales targets and is ideal for someone who is experienced in Software Asset Management and looking for a new opportunity and keen for a challenge and to develop a career with a lot of variety!
Our offices are based in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best!
What You Will Do

In this role you will work collaboratively with other Software Asset Management (SAM) team members, Software Licensing Consultants, and Customer account teams. The Software Asset Management Consultant will:

  • Function as Consulting SAM Subject Matter Expert for our customers.
  • Deliver SAM Consulting services relevant to today’s changing technology landscape and market demands.
  • Deliver Compliance Reviews (Effective Licensing Position) for Customers.
  • Review current software licensing Terms and Conditions, License Agreements, and License Contracts to identify any breaches or risks for our customers.
  • Apply knowledge of licensing rules and use rights within SAM Consulting Services.
  • Analyse, document, and present licensing modelling recommendations.
  • Propose remediation and optimisation activities that may result in reduced compliance risk and/or financial savings and cost avoidance outcomes.
  • Contribute to the achievement of project outcomes while managing compliance and commercial risks for customers.
  • Utilise SAM technologies and their capabilities including Flexera’s FlexNet Manager Suite (FNMS) and/or Snow License Manager.
  • Provide advice on the tools and technologies customer can use to manage software assets, manage licensing compliance, and identify optimisation opportunities within their IT environment.
  • Interpret data outputs from the SAM technologies and other tools to provide accurate and timely reporting.
  • Consult with service management, and customer teams to define, optimise, and develop SAM standards, processes, procedures, plans and controls to ensure appropriate service asset information is recorded and maintained.

What You Will Bring
We are looking for a proactive, highly skilled, and enthusiastic team member who’s interested in being part of and collaborating with a larger group delivering high-quality SAM solutions to our customers. You will bring expertise developed over 2+ years in a Software Asset Management or Software Licensing Sales or License Compliance Auditing role as you will be undertaking a range of interesting activities relating to software licensing advisory, audit, and compliance management on behalf of our customers. An understanding of software licensing and compliance across End User devices, Datacenter infrastructure, Cloud infrastructure, and SaaS/PaaS solutions is important, as is your ability to support the delivery of Software Asset Management (SAM) managed services and projects for multiple customers from Commercial, Government, and Academic industries. You will also have an ability to interpret and apply logical decision making to a variety of data, and you must be able to deliver your analysis, findings, and recommendations to technical and business stakeholders.
This role can be based out of any Datacom office in Australia. Australian Citizenship is essential for Federal Government security clearance requirements. Preferably, you will be a holder of either a current or lapsed Baseline clearance or higher.
Why join us here at Datacom?
Datacom is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest suppliers of Information Technology professional services. You will have the opportunity to learn, develop your career, connect and bring your true self to work. You will be recognised and valued for your contributions and be able to do your work in a collegial, flat-structured environment.
We operate at the forefront of technology to help Australia and New Zealand’s largest enterprise organisations explore possibilities and solve their greatest challenges, so you will never run out of interesting new challenges and opportunities.
