Software Developer – Digital Experience
Salary: Circa £45,000 per annum depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 35 hours per week
Location: Hybrid - office based with full flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Milton Park - Oxfordshire)

Role Overview:
As a pivotal member of the Digital Vision team, your role will centre on enhancing user experiences within the Jisc ecosystem. Digital Vision aims to create a seamless, personalised, and user-centric digital experience for all Jisc users. You will play a crucial part in achieving this vision by leveraging your expertise in React and Python development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and optimise user interfaces using React and Python.
  • Design and implement efficient, maintainable, and scalable code to enhance user interactions and streamline processes.
  • Utilise Terraform, AWS, and Docker to architect, deploy, and manage cloud-based solutions.
  • Ensure that software solutions adhere to WCAG accessibility guidelines, promoting inclusivity for all users.
  • Drive technical innovation by contributing to architectural decisions and ensuring high-quality software delivery.
  • Embrace agile methodologies to iteratively develop, test, and refine features, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and share your knowledge with fellow developers, promoting growth within the team.

Requirements:

  • Strong proficiency in React and Python, with a proven track record of delivering impactful software solutions.
  • Experience with Terraform, AWS, and Docker, enabling efficient cloud-based development and deployment.
  • Familiarity with WCAG accessibility guidelines and a commitment to creating inclusive user experiences.
  • Experience working in an agile environment, using methodologies such as Scrum or Kanban.
  • Full-stack development expertise is a plus, allowing you to contribute across the entire software development lifecycle.
  • Passion for mentoring and guiding junior developers to foster a collaborative learning environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude towards overcoming challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with team members, stakeholders, and end-users.
