THE PERSON:

You’ll be an experienced Development Director or possibly Development Manager / Lead Developer looking for that next step. The product is in its’ infancy so that ability to drive development from a technological, strategic and budgetary perpsective is key.

It’s likely you’ll come from a Software House background, a business creating a new product or a Games company and will ideally have some experience in a Start-up / Hyper-Growth business. Key though is the breadth as well as depth, as a small start-up flexibility to roll up sleeves and get involved whatever the task is essential:

  • You’ll have had 5 years+ experience within technology and there’s a strong preference for someone who has been in a leadership role both from a technical and team management perspective

  • Technical Expertise - You’ll need to have worked on deep tech products - ideally some AR or VR experience with platforms such as Unity, Vuforia, Unreal, ARCore, VRMaker or EasyAR. As a minimum the products need to incorporate Artificial Intelligence / AI or Machine Learning / ML. Your AR / VR experience could come from a gaming environment although any experience in developing commercial products would be a preference

  • You will have designed, built and launched a product from scratch

  • Ideally you’ll have experience within an Engineering, Aviation, Automotive, Manufacturing or Aerospace environment - something where safety is critical and maintenance / repair is key

  • The ability to work closely with the founder to build and launch the product - you will own the technology roadmap and will be responsible for all technology related decisions

  • A strong customer focus, excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with external stakeholders

The role is paying circa £100-130k plus equity and benefits and this is dependent on depth / breadth of experience.
The main office is in Southampton, Hampshire, and whilst some time will be needed there the role is offered on a hybrid / predominantly remote basis

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strategy - Be responsible for the strategy and technology of the Augmented Reality / Artificial Intelligence platform that will be used on AR Safety Glasses

  • Architecture - You’ll lead on the Architecture, Design and Build of the product

  • Technology – Lead from a hands-on perspective and select, procure and implement tools

  • Team Management - recruit and build a team of Full-stack, AR, AI and ML Engineers to develop the prototype and product that exceeds customer expectations

  • Drive Innovation - Implement and Utilise the latest AR / AI tools to ensure the product is truly innovative
  • Collaboration - work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders making sure that client requirements are truly understood and incorporated in to plans
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Provide effective communication and translate complex technical details into understandable business language. You will also work with partners within the industry to fully understand their needs and ensure the product solves real-world problems
