Description:

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
    Voice-driven features have been assisting millions of Alexa customers at home with day-to-day capabilities. We are witness to a significant milestone in Alexa wherein these core features are becoming very personal while also bringing family members closer and allowing them to effectively coordinate with one another. The Alexa Calendar org helps family members communicate and coordinate efficiently and delightfully. We are working to fundamentally innovate on Alexa’s personal features to make them much smarter via an AI that powers the Family Assistant. Part of the role is to Think Big not only about technology, but about the possibilities.
    As a Software Development Engineer for Alexa Calendar, you will be responsible for influencing and shaping the direction of our services as well as mentor junior members of the team. You will define, plan, and execute on deliverables that drive game changing improvements for customers. Alexa Calendar operates at large scale and is highly available, so a passion and discipline around operational excellence is key.

  • Collaborate with product management, UX, and cross-functional teams to define and deliver end-to-end customer experiences that are intelligent and personalized.
  • Display a passion and discipline around operational excellence, by incorporating and training on best practices.
  • Hire and Mentor junior members of the team.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Vancouver, BC, CAN

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary for this position ranges from $114,800/year up to $191,800/year. Salary is based on a number of factors and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
