As our AI Centre of Excellence continues to grow rapidly in Galway, Ireland, we are looking to grow the team on this exciting and challenging journey.
As a backend Software Engineer on the Journey Data Team you will work closely with a talented team of like-minded engineers and product managers to both ideate, built, operate, and scale, impactful customer facing features across the full development lifecycle.
In this position you will get the opportunity to work with modern technologies across the full development cycle, including a wide array of Amazon Web Services (AWS), Jenkins, New Relic, Sumo Logic, as well as proprietary Genesys software.

Key Responsibilities

• Help to build high-quality, highly scalable software systems that serve as the main ingestion point for our customer journey software.
• Take ownership of the services you work on and actively participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
• Write, review and maintain high-quality code and tests for our software.
• Deploy and monitor our services in the cloud across a wide array of global regions.
• Continuously learn, adapt and grow your skills as an engineer.

Minimum Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related disciplines.
• 2+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Programming experience in Java, ideally using Spring Boot.
• Experience using Cloud infrastructure, ideally Amazon Web Services.
• Self-driven learner, able to master new technologies in an agile environment.
• Ability to apply critical thinking and drive for quality in software development.
• Ability to work in a distributed, multi-cultural environment.

Desirable Skills

• Programming language experience (listed below or similar): Javascript -Node, Jenkins, Javascript
• Experience with Amazon Web Services (listed below or similar):EC2, DynamoDB, Redis, Lambda, SQS, SNS, Cloudformation
• Experience with other technologies (listed below or similar):Git, Kafka, Kubernetes, New Relic, Sumo Logic
• Experience with the following software-related concepts (listed below): Microservices, Object-oriented programming, Integration and unit testing, REST APIs, Event-based messaging system, and NoSQL database design
