The Boeing Company is looking for an Software Engineer (Experienced/Senior) to join our team in Titusville, Florida. This position will support our Space & Launch Division for the NASA Space Launch System (SLS) Stage Controller Program.
NASA’s SLS is a sophisticated launch vehicle with its outstanding capabilities, offering more payload mass, volume capability and energy to speed missions through space. SLS is crafted to be flexible and evolvable and will open new possibilities for payloads, including robotic scientific missions to places like the Moon, Mars, Saturn and Jupiter.
This GUI software engineering position requires excellent C++ programming skills, engineering skills, and of course, a Graphics User Interface programming background. The position primarily involves creating, modifying and testing the console screens used by the operators for the vehicle’s dry runs, wet dress rehearsals and hot fire testing at the John C. Stennis Space Center (SSC).
The ideal candidate has a passion about safety, customer happiness, software engineering, quality, team building, and continuous process improvements. The candidate must have a relevant background in software development and hardware integration for the purposes of being able integrate GUI console screens and user inputs with back-end systems and both simulated and real hardware. The candidate will also integrate with teams of other engineering professionals.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree
  • 3+ years’ experience programming in C++
  • 3+ years’ experience in graphical user interface (GUI) design
  • 3+ years’ experience working within a development environment using Agile methodologies
  • 3+ years’ experience developing software for the Linux Operating System
  • 1+ years Aerospace experience required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in C++ back-end programming strongly preferred
  • 5+ years of experience with reading or writing software requirements strongly preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in graphical user interface (GUI) design
  • 5+ years’ experience working within a development environment using Agile methodologies
  • 5+ years’ experience developing software for the Linux Operating System
  • 1+ years Aerospace experience required
  • Recent QT experience

  • Experience in real-time command and control system distributed computer networking
  • Experience in simulation engineering, and with instructor operator station design and programming in particular
  • Experience with development tools such as BitBucket and Parasoft

SUMMARY PAY RANGE:

Level 3: $104,550 - $141,450
Level 4: $122,400 - $165,600

Responsibilities:

  • C++ GUI programming in a human-safety-critical environment
  • Build unit tests and automated regression tests
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify system solutions with an emphasis on network, hardware and software safety
  • Evaluates customer/operational needs to define system performance requirements, technical parameter integration and compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces from an engineering perspective
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risks, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes with an emphasis on safety and engineering
  • Apply human factors engineering toward the implementation of designs and the implementation of system and functional requirements
  • Using AGILE tools (such as Jira) for tasking and status reporting
