Global Data Insight & Analytics (GDI&A) aspire to navigate Ford Motor Company through the disruptiveness of the information age, harnessing the power of data and artificial intelligence to realize the enterprise’s known goals, reveal hidden opportunities, and achieve data superiority.
The GDI&A Data Factory (DF) covers all business processes and technical components involved in ingesting a wide range of enterprise data into the GDIA Data Factory and the transformation of that data into consumable data sets and APIs in support of analytics. Data is a critical enabler to achieving our Smart Vehicles in a Smart World aspiration; it is the fuel for AI/ML, Customer Experience, Fitness, and Innovation.
Within GDIA Data Factory, there is a phenomenal opportunity awaits on a team that is responsible for ingesting connected vehicle data streams that integrate with internal Ford systems shaping the future of vehicles.
Connected Vehicle Data Team is a product line that delivers a scalable and extensible test-and-learn ecosystem that focuses on new advanced opportunities. The ecosystem is an integrated, multi-platform solution that incorporates on-prem technology, and Ford’s next-generation cloud technologies. This position is a great opportunity to drive the Connected Vehicle Data delivery, which will bring to production many key strategic capabilities.
You’ll have…
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related field
5+ years of Object-Oriented Development experience which includes applying expertise in building Java platform concepts with the following tools and technologies:
Spring Platform (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring JDBC, Spring Cloud)
Automated Testing, Continuous Integration, Continuous Deployment, and technologies (Jenkins CI or similar)
Relevant experience with databases (MSSQL, SQL Server, BigQuery, etc.)
Data design, data architecture, and data modeling (both transactional and analytic)
2+ years of real-time streaming including Apache Kafka and NIFI
2+ years ingesting embedded modem data from VSDN/TMC
Even better, you may have…
Advanced degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Data Science or a related field
2+ years of understanding, practicing, and advocating for clean code principles such as test-driven development (TDD/BDD), Extreme Programming (XP), self-documenting code, continuous refactoring, and writing Unit, Integration, and Acceptance test cases
Use the Hadoop ecosystem, APIs, and components
Analyze user needs to determine how software should be built or if existing software should be modified
Using Microservices to help with the scalability of production code through APIs
Develop and/or perform software automated testing procedures, solutions, and frameworks to ensure software functions as needed
Highly effective in working with other technical experts, Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, and business stakeholders
Capable in Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery tools and pipelines such as Jenkins, Maven, Gradle, GitHub, etc.
Strong teammate, with the ability to collaborate well with others, solve problems, and actively incorporate input from various sources
Demonstrated customer focus, with the ability to evaluate decisions through the eyes of the customer, build strong customer relationships, and create processes with a customer viewpoint
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluate information/data to make decisions
Strong interpersonal, and leadership skills, with shown abilities to communicate sophisticated topics to leaders and peers in a simple, clear, plan-oriented manner
Ability to anticipate obstacles and develop plans to resolve those obstacles

What you’ll do…
Work hands-on with the team and other stakeholders to deliver quality software products that meet
our customer’s requirements and needs.
Help GDI&A Partners understand our iterative development approach and focus on delivering a
Minimum Viable Product through careful and deliberate prioritization.
Mentor and train other Software Engineers to help them learn agile methods and build skills.
Help innovate and iterate on agile processes and share our learnings.
Work in a Programming environment by growing technical capabilities/expertise and providing guidance to other members of the team
Support the data requirements of the different functional teams like MS&S, PD, Quality, etc., and all the regional KPI / Metrics initiatives -Evaluate, explore, and select the right data platform technologies including Big Data, RDBMS & NoSQL to meet the analytics requirements
Provide visibility to Data Quality issues and work with the business owners to fix the issues
Actively promote the concept of data standardization, integration, fusion, and quality
Model data, build data flow diagrams, load, and transformation
Serve as data subject matter expert and demonstrate an understanding of key data management principles and data use
