Description:

The SQA Software Engineer plays an integral role within an Agile Scrum team, working collaboratively with Product Owners, Developers, Automation Developers and other Testers to complete development work in sprints. The incumbent must utilize software test engineering concepts to include test planning, design, analysis, execution, and automation of manual test cases.
The individual must be innovative, self-motivated, quick learner and willing to develop new skills while constantly improving existing abilities. This person must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, communicate effectively with team members, and be able to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

(QUALIFICATIONS)EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in CS/ME/EE and minimum of 2 - 4 years technical QA experience, or equivalent
  • Experience working as part of an agile development team (Scrum, TDD, XP) doing in-sprint test design, execution and some automation
  • Experience working closely with product owners or BAs writing user story acceptance criteria
  • Experience using Jira
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Experience reporting test metrics and status
  • Experience creating XML or JSON messages with business data for testing purposes
  • Test automation or scripting is a plus
  • CI/CD experience a plus
  • Experience with Linux OS environment a plus
    The base compensation range for this position is $72K to $91K per year. Your actual base salary will be determined based upon a number of factors which may include relevant experience, skills, location (labor market data), credentials (education, certifications), and internal equity.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Owners to review user stories and develop robust acceptance criteria that includes alternate, positive and negative test scenarios
  • Create necessary test data to test user stories, including XML, JSON and proprietary format messages, as needed to be used for the automation suite
  • Executes tests for user stories as they are completed
  • Automate manual tests where possible and assist SQA team automation as needed
  • Works with automation engineers to automate user story and user story integration tests, if necessary
  • Partner with development and test resources on other project scrum teams to smoke test integration in the Dev INT environment
  • Execute user story acceptance testing and review results with the Product Owners and team, including API testing, UI testing, Software and Firmware functions, etc.
  • Design and develop tests based on user stories, use cases, other requirements sources, technical specifications, and non-functional requirements
  • Execute regression testing as needed, working to continually increase automation coverage
  • Analyze issues found during testing and collaborate with the team to resolve them
  • Track, report and verify software defects to ensure the resolution of issues found.
