Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

We are looking for a Front-end Engineer to join our Web Platform team and help shape the future user experience of Samsara’s products. You will be a key player in architecture and design choices for new UI development across Samsara products. Together with Engineering, Product, and Design, you will research new opportunities, create new user experiences and prototypes, and be a key leader of the Samsara design system.

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • Author and maintain UI components that are accessible, performant, scalable, and robust
  • Work closely with product designers, product managers, and engineers to implement solutions for end user and business needs
  • Act as a technical driver in the development of high quality, well-tested, documented, CI/CD-enabled, and high-performance software solutions
  • Serve as an advisor for our frontend UI to teams and engineering leadership
  • Act as liaison between product design/UX and engineering, providing technical guidance and coaching
  • Lead best practice discussions on design systems
  • Facilitate the distribution of ideas and maintain UI consistency across product lines
  • Pursue personal growth by maintaining an awareness of the state of technology, engineering techniques, and best practices of design systems
  • Facilitate special project planning including requirements elicitation, design, and scoping
  • Manage your own time, and work well both on your own and as part of a team

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

  • You have at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or similar, or corresponding level of relevant education
  • You have 2+ years of experience working professionally with modern development practices
  • You have advanced level knowledge of designing, architecting, and developing applications using modern JavaScript technologies in particular using React, Typescript, and SASS
