Description:

SUMMARY:

Jenoptik Light & Safety is seeking a software engineer who will work in a globally distributed team tasked with integrating solutions for civil security and smart city applications. Work will include integrating customer features in our back office solution, test and integration of multiple technologies from camera, radar, video, still imagery, LPR, database management and AI/analytics to deliver a robust solution to the customer. The successful candidate must have experience working with customers to develop successful solutions that meet their needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with intermediate to advanced knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language, C++ or C# preferred
  • Working knowledge of industry technologies (e.g. WCF, WPF and GUI design , GStreamer, FFMPEG, AWS, AZURE)
  • Knowledge of .NET and SQL / SQL Server
  • Experience working within a collaborative, globally distributed engineering environment
  • Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs

REQUIREMENTS (CONTINUED):

  • Must have the ability to absorb extensive technical detail and logically formulate solutions for execution on an inflexible schedule, often requiring integration of conflicting and, at times, incomplete data
  • Must possess “soft skills”: personal effectiveness, creative problem solving, strategic thinking, and team building skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel between the locations in Jupiter, FL, Camberley, UK and Monheim am Rhein, Germany
  • Experience in fields relating to radar, photo enforcement and/or traffic systems is a plus
  • Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure a plus
  • Knowledge of video analytics, machine learning, or computer vision is a plus
  • Must be either a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Responsibilities:

  • Development of systems based on Angular, C++, C#, .NET, and Python
  • Preparation and maintenance of documentation
  • Design and develop products, web applications, and back office solutions for traffic enforcement and civil security
  • Undertake ancillary tasks associated with the development, deployment and marketing of products and systems. These tasks may include, but are not limited to:
  • Development and maintenance of internal business systems;
  • Demonstration, technical support and commissioning of programs and systems at client and business partner sites
  • Maintain rapport with customers by examining complaints and identifying solutions
  • Perform all other duties as assigned
