The Software Engineer at Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Company in Franklin, Wisconsin will apply engineering best practices in-order-to analyze, design, develop, deploy, and support software solutions, and infrastructure implementations and upgrades. Program applications in .NET languages (C#, VB, .NET) based on business requirements. Upgrade, configure, and debug existing systems, providing technical support for web, desktop, or mobile applications and writing clean, scalable code using .NET programming languages. Use .NET Framework, Core, ASP.NET, C#, VB, .NET, ADO.NET, and LINQ to develop solutions for applications. Ensure coding standards are maintained and automated unit test cases are included using test driven methodology. Prepare technical design documents throughout software development life cycle (SDLC) and act as a consultant for teams developing modernized applications by rewriting business functionality in modern technologies such as JAVA, Node JS, and AWS. Participate in scrum team meetings in Safe agile and work on continuous development and continuous integration (CICD) changes for code maintenance and automated deployment. Enhance application monitoring using latest tools including Dynatrace, Vigil, and ELK to maintain application availability and monitor SLAs for Underwriting applications. Analyze design options to create stories in Jira and provide estimates for feature implementation. Analyze legacy system written on C++, VB .NET and prepare application flow documents. Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days per week. Salary $108,568- $168,350 per year.
Minimum Requirements: Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years (or a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years) of experience as a software developer or in a related occupation. Experience must include 2 years with each of the following: (1) .NET Framework, Core, ASP.NET, C#, VB, .NET, ADO.NET, and LINQ; (2) relational databases, including SQL Server and SYBASE; (3) Scripting language including Bootstrap, Java Script, jQuery, HTML, and CSS; (4) SOAP and REST Web service frameworks, including object oriented principles; (5) cloud technologies including AWS; (6) full stack including with Java and Node JS; (7) CICD pipelines and related tools including GIT, Nant, TFS, GitHub, and SonarQube; and (8) Dynatrace, Vigil, and ELK monitoring to maintain application SLAs.
