Embedded Software Engineer
Location: Farmington, CT
Reports to: Director, Software Engineering
In a time of exciting transformation for Otis, continuing the company’s path of change, our Engineering organization is hiring for an Embedded Software Engineer within our Farmington, Connecticut Lead Design Center (LDC). This person will be responsible for the software development for elevator controls and/or edge devices and tool creation/maintenance.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Responsibility for the design, development, test, and maintenance of embedded software for real-time applications for elevators and interfaced embedded devices
• Work individually across a matrixed team environment and collaborate within a team of engineers located in worldwide engineering centers

THE PERSON

Otis is looking for a hardworking, collaborative, self-motivator that works with creativity and energy as an embedded software engineer in a small to medium size group to design, develop and test elevator software systems and other embedded devices. Tools used by Otis to aid in development and test are also maintained and advanced with new functionality.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• BS Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or similarly related degree
• Must have experience with C or C++ or an equivalent programming language
• Must have experience with / knowledge of embedded devices
• Must be able to trouble-shoot complex software
• Must be able to work as an individual and in a global team environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Working knowledge of CAN and serial communications
• Experience with development using state machines, hardware abstraction layers, serial communications, memory management
• Familiarity with configuration management, change management and test management tools
• Familiarity with tools related to cybersecurity
• Knowledge of Scrum and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
• Familiarity with .Net Visual Studio and C#
• Familiarity with Operating Systems and their APIs/SDKs
