PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Must be a hands-on leader, helping with strategic architecture, design, and coding review as necessary.
  • Has led major transformation plans (legacy system deep-dive, roadmap creation and execution of roadmap)
  • Understanding of industry standards ISO 20022, BIAN, IFX standards
  • Deep understanding of U.S. domestic payment rails (Check, ACH, WIRES, SWIFT) across both legacy and faster payments
  • Extensive Experience with ACH PEP+, FTM.
  • Strong hands-on experience with DevOps capabilities - containers, cloud, automation, security, configuration management, CI/CD
  • Strong hands-on experience with Java/Spring, SQL Server, Microservices, GraphQL, REST, Confluent Kafka, IBM MQ, Redis, Log4J, Splunk, App Dynamics, Rancher
  • Deep understanding of data platform technologies (engineering, capabilities & integration)
  • Exposure to latest technologies in cloud engineering, open frameworks, AI/ML
  • Possesses expertise in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices in an agile environment.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As a Software Engineering Director and payments domain leader, you will lead work on core systems modernization and payments data platform delivery. You must be a hands-on delivery lead with executive presence and ability to manage stakeholders and competing priorities. You will drive the Payments Data Mart build, our AI/ML work bench for customer and product level reporting and controls.
To be successful, you will understand the delicate balance between legacy platforms and new systems to manage stability. You’ll know what it takes to embark on a modernization journey, building next-generation, data-driven transactions-processing platforms by decomposing the monoliths into logical, functional business components architected with cloud ready microservices architecture.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Sets the direction of platform and product expansion while assisting the team in aligning platform, product & architecture roadmaps to business requirements.
  • Executes product roadmap on-time and within budget and ensures security and relevant compliance of core systems.
  • Coaches engineers to have a debugging mindset with a view of using the appropriate tools for specific needs.
  • Leads incident response across the engineering organization as needed.
  • Drives the organizational testing strategy and uses quality metrics to identify gaps.
  • Identifies and manages technical and business risk.
  • Takes ownership of decisions made; helping teams make clear decisions in alignment with enterprise goals, backing decisions made, and taking responsibility for their success.
  • Works across the organization to foster a culture where we:
  • Utilize applicable and relevant design patterns in anticipation of future use cases.
  • Make design decisions that minimize the cost of future changes.
  • Have quality and timely code reviews while encouraging teams to consider release complications.
  • Deliver features with minimal disruption to production.
  • Set priorities and urgency in alignment with organizational strategy, making trade-offs where needed and managing technical debt.
  • Work to keep skills up to date.
