The Software Licensing Team sits within the IT Workplace, Environment and Customer Support Branch within the Technology and Services Division (TSD). The team manages the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR) and client agencies software licenses, administering licences for software installed on the department’s IT network.
We are looking for talented, hard-working team member with previous experience, or a very good understanding of software licence management or a desire to learn, who is experienced in working in service-oriented teams in a fast-paced and dynamic, predominantly ICT environment. Delivering excellent customer service is an essential part of the Software Licensing Team.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Software Licensing Team Leader, the Software Licensing Officer will be responsible for assisting in assessing and managing a broad range of licensing models for commercial off the shelf desktop and infrastructure software; monitoring and reporting on license entitlements, usage, and deployments. Support with the procurement and testing of new software, software compliance, maintenance renewals, life cycle planning, costing, and issue resolution are also key functions of the position.
You will be expected to work as part of a team to contribute to and deliver day to day operations and services and support a diverse range of technical and non-technical stakeholders, including the executive, our ministers, and our internal and external clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under limited direction, you will:

  • Assist with the management of the department’s desktop and infrastructure software licence portfolio, including monitoring, and reporting on contracts, and compliance with End User Licensing Agreements for a broad range of licensing models;
  • Provide advice to stakeholders and assist with the procurement of software;
  • Develop and manage reporting on software consumption and capacity;
  • Develop and implement software asset management processes and programs;
  • Assist with annual software true-up reporting to vendors;
  • Assist with managing software lifecycles, including maintaining the n-1 version.
