Description:

We are currently looking for a Software Team Lead Engineer who will drive and contribute to the execution, planning, and release of high-impact software projects company-wide. Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer, this person will participate in all aspects of the product development and software delivery lifecycle, focusing on raising the bar on technical quality, performace and agility.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 8+ years of industry experience in a software engineering leadership role, preferably building a high impact product.
  • TS+ security clearance and familiar with operating within secure DoD and IC environments.
  • Proven experience with event-driven, object-oriented, and service-oriented patterns and architectures.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible, and TerraForm, Cassandra Hadoop, GitLab, Jira, Confluence, VSCode, PyCharm, NetBeans and related development and data technologies.
  • Experience using modern open-source software
  • Designing and delivering effective software capabilities.
  • Experienced builder and strategist who enjoys defining and scaling systems from concept to operational delivery.
  • Experience in full-stack product development and knowledge of several high-level programming languages and related frameworks.
  • Experience building scalable distributed systems, both built from scratch as well as on major cloud primitives.
  • Possess knowledge of the code and tools required for development of software engineering solutions for both customer-facing and operational problems.
  • Experience digitizing and automating operational processes and workflows.
  • Ability to sketch out and iterate on solid engineering architecture and designs.
  • Proactive technical leader with experience owning roadmaps and directing your own work.

Responsibilities:

  • You will assume the role of Software Team lead with a team of approximately 50 people.
  • You are expected to lead by example.
  • You are expected to Communicate and Collaborate within team, with other teams and with PMAT leadership at all levels.
  • You are your team’s backstop – and will help them to succeed - This can include directly helping them get tasks completed as well as reviewing and resolving issues.
  • You will work with the CTO to define your team’s Skill Areas, Labor Categories, Training, and skill assessments.
  • You are responsible to participate in all interviews of staff to be assigned to your team.
  • You are responsible to complete a growth and training plan for every member of your team.
  • You are responsible to complete the technical part of career reviews for each team member.
  • You are responsible to work with the CTO and PMs to plan, assign & monitor your team’s support – identify gaps and surges in advance.
  • You are responsible to monitor each team member’s progress on program(s) they support.
  • You are responsible to assist in estimating efforts, skills required and managing a resource mapping of your staff to include risks, loss of coverage and backups for illness and time off.
  • You will transform product strategy into technical strategy by helping to develop, pilot and iterate on new product implementations for new and existing customers.
  • You will partner closely with cross-functional team members as a technical owner of key business goals.
  • You will lead the conception, planning, execution, and release of multiple high-impact engineering projects at once.
  • You will embrace and champion agile development practices and execute end-to-end software development in an agile environment across our entire stack.
  • You will become well-versed in our testing, deployment, observability, and monitoring tools; make recommendations to improve or enhance their usage; and mentor other team members to drive a software engineering culture rooted in quality and delivery.
  • You will mentor teammates and promote simplicity in solving complex problems across our products and teams as we scale.
