Description:
SUMMARY
Our Soil Preparation Analyst key objective is to grind all soil samples for analysis elsewhere in the lab. His/her/their responsibilities also include preparing extracts for salinity, EC, and pH, and analyzing particle size distribution by hydrometer.
REQUIREMENTS
- One (1) year experience in a laboratory setting and/or hold a diploma in Chemistry or equivalent
- Knowledge of basic lab analytical skills
- Must be a dynamic individual who is very organized, maintains work areas clean, pays attention to detail and has a strong sense of urgency when executing his/her/their tasks.
- Must be able to establish good communication with the Team Leader and other staff in the organization, specifically his/her/their team mates.
- Must be able to come to work on a daily basis and as requested.
- Requires the physical stamina to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to twenty (20) pounds

Responsibilities:
- Grinding soil samples for salinity, metals, etc. analysis.
- Analyzing Particle Size by Hydrometer method, and preparing extracts for salinity, EC, pH, etc.
- Entering all data on calculation sheets for approval by the Team Leader.
- Maintaining the highest standards of quality when performing digestions and analysis, and ensuring that only data which has passed QC is posted for Team Leader approval.
- Organize workload according to due dates.
- Maintain turn-around times (TATs) to ensure client jobs are reported on the specified date, including regular and rush TATs.
- Keep open communications with the Team Leader about issues which may arise while performing tasks.
- Keeping a clean and tidy work area while performing tasks and cleaning up before the end of a shift. Also, performing clean-up in other areas, such as sample disposal for the ammonia analysis.
- Keeping an acceptable inventory of supplies, reagents, and standards to ensure uninterrupted service.
- Perform all other duties as assigned or needed.
