Description:
We have an opportunity for a Solicitor, 1-3 years PQE, based in our Edinburgh office, working closely with partners Martin Whiteford and Pat Loftus
The role is a dual role advising on both non-contentious construction and more widely on renewable energy and low carbon projects.
You will be involved in a wide range of renewable energy and construction projects. The team sits within the wider corporate department and is part of a cross-departmental energy sector group. The team advise investors, developers, sponsors, public sector bodies across sectors ranging from wind energy, to solar, hydrogen, education, housing, transport and many more.
We are looking for a candidate that is passionate about renewable energy and ready for the next step.
Responsibilities:
- Assistance in drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts, subcontractor agreements, consultant appointments and other legal documents.
- Advising on commercial contracts relating to renewable energy projects including advising on grid issues and operation and maintenance contracts.
- Conducting legal research to stay abreast of industry trends, regulations, and best practices.
- Supporting the delivery of major transactions and innovative projects
- Liaising with clients – developing and maintaining relationships
- Embracing the firm’s continuing investment in technology for the delivery of legal services
Prior relevant legal expertise is not necessarily required as training will be provided, but the successful candidate must demonstrate a willingness to learn, an interest in the renewables and construction sectors and a commitment to become involved in business development activities.
The successful candidate should be able to manage a varied workload, be able to work alone and as part of a team and have the ability to deliver a first-class service to our clients.
