About the OPPORTUNITY
We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our Hunter Class business unit based at Osborne SA, reporting to the Principle Solution Architect
We embrace flexible work arrangements at BAE Systems Australia, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working.
You will be responsible for proactively leading and supporting the Maritime Solution Architecture activities, guiding the design & development of a portfolio of solutions within this line of business.
Lead on one of our Architectural roadmaps, develop end-to-end solution architectures for initiatives, evaluate options, and provide guidance to engineering squads. The role will also support innovation by monitoring emerging technologies/methods and championing those that will add value.
Partnering with business stakeholders to understand business demands and drivers, elaborating these, assessing the impacts and implications for our existing technology portfolio and programs of work, and shaping a response. Collaborating with business analysts and engineers to develop solution options, make decisions, and maintaining key Architecture artefacts, e.g. Architecture / Solution Overview.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing solution architecture for the project portfolio aligned to architecture principles
  • Developing and maintaining a target state for Maritime technology landscape and a roadmap to get there, considering organisational challenges and imperatives
  • Presenting big picture or detailed architecture views and artefacts to a variety of stakeholders across business and technology teams
  • Building relationships with key business and technology stakeholders and setting direction together
  • Developing and maintaining patterns relevant to the technology solution.
  • Actively contribute to architecture practice framework including guardrails
