Seeking an experienced Solution Designer to join the Mortgages Product and Servicing Delivery Train. This role is to work on a multi-year program in the Mortgages Technology domain which is currently in pre-Discovery phase.
The Solution Designer will be responsible for Engaging with the Business and Architecture from the inception of an idea to help steer and provide guidance with the aim of producing optimal solution designs.
This role is the catalyst that sits between the Business representatives, the Architecture representatives and the Cross-Functional Delivery Squads to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the bank’s initiatives.

This role will report into the Principal Technical Lead for the Mortgages Product and Servicing Delivery Train & have frequent interactions with leadership team members.

• Leading, driving, exploring options, being creative and basically doing what it takes to achieve a quality Solution Design
• Coordinate - Engage architecture, the business, system’s SME’s and IT squads to achieve a common understanding of the problem and ultimately an agreed solution
• Engaging with the Business and Architecture from the inception of an idea to help steer and provide guidance with the aim of producing optimal solution designs
• Being the catalyst that sits between the Business representatives, the Architecture representatives and the IT Squads to ensure efficient and effective delivery of the bank’s initiatives
• Drive the delivery of a quality E2E solution design
• Engage with courage when things get difficult
• Listen to and value the expertise of Architects, the Business and the IT Squads
• Challenge where I feel it is required and escalate when necessary
• Accept that a pragmatic, cost effective and deliverable solution often trumps the ideal solution

Critical skills & experience for the role include:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Solution Designer
• Be a creative pragmatist - Have the ability to creatively find the right balance between strategic ideals, business demands, future proofing, speed to market and tech debt minimisation in the solution definition
• Strong inter-personal skills essential
• Prior experience with Westpac Mortgages Application Technology Domain would be favourable
• Prior experience in Agile delivery would be favourabl
