SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Work is primarily structured into projects that encompass a wide range of clients and industries. You will need to have impeccable time management, stakeholder management and analytical skills:

Essential:

• Appropriate engineering or science degree
• Experience and knowledge of architecture, design, development and testing of complex satellite communications systems and solutions
• Proven experience in satellite communications systems engineering, specialising in GEO satellite communications.
• SATCOMs link design principles and hands-on experience on different link budget tools
• Sound understanding of risk management and ITIL principles.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience designing and integrating multi band satellite communications systems
• Ability to review and challenge suppliers on their technical products, reports and observed performance.
• Understand nuances of system limitations and behaviours at system level.
• Good understanding on baseband technologies that includes, iDirect, Gilat, Newtec, Comtech.
• In-depth understanding on networking principles with Layer 2, Layer 3 network designs.
• Knowledge and experience of Systems Engineering in order to be able to:
• Leading and delivering Complex Systems Programmes
• Work with potential suppliers to understand the benefits, performance and growth paths for their product
• Ability to work within and sometimes lead a small team to complete the required accountabilities in a professional and timely manner.
• Ability to produce reports and presentations clearly showing analysis and suggestions to stakeholders, internally and externally.
• Experience of working on multiple projects/tasks.
• Good command of the English language (both written and verbal)
• Prioritisation and organisational skills.
• Strong communication, presentational and interpersonal skills.

Desirable: –

• Hands-on experience in testing of satellite system components
• Experience in Requirements creation and validation
• Complete experience in end to end systems including RF, Baseband & Networking
• Understanding of modelling languages for tools e.g. VBA, Matlab, JavaScript
• Good exposure on Microsoft suite with visio.
• Understanding the wireshark and open source sniffers for analysing complex traffic issues

ROLE PURPOSE

As a Solutions Architect, you will design some of the most complex and critical satellite networks that exist in the world as well as representing Avanti to top profile clients as a subject matter expert. You will be adept at understanding customer and business requirements and configuring the best of our network into bespoke solutions that meet the client’s needs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the sales team in closing new opportunities and supporting/expanding existing customers for complex and bespoke requirements.
• Develop and present solution demonstrations and proof of concept campaigns and answer technical questions about the capabilities and features of Avanti products for complex and bespoke requirements.
• Understand customer requirements at a system level and translate these into appropriate technology designs that meet the customers’ needs
• Ensure the viability of the proposed solution and provide direction, advice and guidance on the appropriate approach to the solution throughout the project working in conjunction with other technical teams, subject matter experts and project managers.
• Maintain and enhance the current system level design of the company using models and creative processes to enable new solution designs within Avanti’s system; both on the ground and in space.
• Create documentation for solution design, configuration, testing and results analysis for new and existing technologies
• Maintain awareness of technology trends –both in space and on the ground and assist in the development of new products
• Ensure technical solutions are feasible and can deliver against Service Level Agreements.
• Contribute to the ongoing maintenance and management of the HYLAS system by actively keeping up-to-date the design details, analysis and architecture of the Avanti satellite fleet and ground systems in the HYLAS System Wiki.
• Support major anomaly and incident investigations as the engineering design authority
• Working on complex link budget designs on Avanti’s fleet to support different verticals of business
