Responsibilities:

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly reporting into the Owners you’ll be an integral part of the business to grow its’ product offering to customers and overall turnover.
  • Cold calling will be part of the role as is a form of sourcing solicitation, new suppliers who’ve never interacted with the United Brands will be integral to building new product supply. It generally refers to visiting trade fairs & exhibitions, phone-based conversations, networking and meeting sales management with leading brands.
  • Full responsibility of key accounts with suppliers from Global supply chains. Developing new and existing relationship
  • Interface with Senior Directors to Middle management to secure product.
  • Researching and identifying product opportunities across new supply routes to purchase clearance products, partnering with major brand manufacturers for new business.
  • Attend Domestic and International exhibitions and trade fairs.
  • Seek to drive your relationships with manufacturers and other suppliers of brand products.
  • Be a commercial lead for the business.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE, THESE ARE THE KEY ATTRIBUTES AND COMMERCIAL MIND-SET NEEDED:

  • Be an effective communicator over the phone.
  • Establishing and maintaining progressive relationships with suppliers.
  • Be a fantastic communicator with strong interpersonal skills and have the confidence to speak to people at different seniority levels.
  • You should understand sales behaviour and be able to consult with suppliers to gain their product at the right price.
  • Develop an understanding of how suppliers work in order to determine who the decision-makers are and have the ability to build a successful relationship and value proposition to meet their and your needs.
  • Make contact and forming productive and profitable relationships.
  • Delivering a service, from the initial conversation, negotiating to inbound of inventory.
  • Have strong negotiation skills with a proven ability to secure competitive prices and favourable terms.
  • High degree of commercial acumen
  • Be a driven, tenuous individual with a will to succeed.
  • No prior purchasing experience is required but would be desirable as Discount Buyer, Senior Buyer, Buying Manager, Trader, Trading Manager, Product Sourcing, Purchaser role
  • Desirable to have experience with products from gifting, DIY, garden, homeware, seasonal products.
