A BIT ABOUT US:
Foodstuffs is a 100% New Zealand owned and operated organisation, made up of two regional co-operatives and a central body ‘Foodstuffs New Zealand’ that leads our Own Brand product portfolio, national brand and marketing, and government advocacy.
Established in 1922 we are a true Kiwi success story, having grown from humble beginnings to become one of New Zealand’s largest and most thriving businesses. We believe that it’s our people, our knowledge, and our passion for our business and customers that sets us apart.
As an organisation we have exceptionally high standards and see ourselves as an integral member of every one of our communities. Ours is a simple formula and one we will continue to develop well into the future as we carry on anticipating and meeting the needs and wants of our customers.
Responsibilities:
- You will need to develop an intimate knowledge of your products and your customer, as well as the ability to stay on top of category trends, technologies, innovation, competition, commodity markets and supplier capability within food and non-food categories.
- Planning and effectively executing our Better Buying Program in support of our category strategies and strategic sourcing plan. This will include product tenders, seasonal crop tenders, commodities, not for resale products and other opportunities as required.
- You have a deep understanding of key cost drivers and maintain an excellent working knowledge of category cost dynamics, commodity movements and other input cost variables (domestic & international) to ensure we successfully leverage the best cost negotiation outcomes.
Some helpful experience to have:
Our ideal Foodie is someone with experience in a retail/commercial function in a buying or procurement role, ideally in Food or FMCG. You will have a strong understanding of product componentry and the cost makeup of goods, as well as general knowledge of manufacturing processes, and impact on the cost of goods. Good knowledge of local and international sourcing processes and capabilities. You will bring a track record of key stakeholder management and able to maintain a great working environment, as well as have strong practical commercial understanding with exposure to international trade practices, INCO purchasing terms, global commodities indices, and currency (FOREX) impact on cost of goods.
You’ll have fabulous communication skills and an understanding of how a cooperative model works. You will thrive in a highly engaged and collaborative team environment and understand the intricacies of stakeholder engagement. If you’re looking for your next challenge, then this could be the role for you.
